This paper analyzes the experiences of middle schools in MST settlements from the debate on rural education, school and work in Brazil. Were chosen for analysis two distinct realities of high school: The College Iraci Strozak Salette located in Settlement Marcos Freire, Paraná (southern region) and the High School, João dos Santos de Oliveira (John Landless), located in the Settlement 25 May, in the town of Madalena, CE (Northeast). The aim is to analyze how effective education in schools and the contradictions in the relationship between schools and communities, schools and settlements, MST and other rural organizations and city, among others, that may indicate the limits and possibilities of strengthening project Field Education in Brazil today. School visits settlements showed the challenge to build the school field as truly public school. The study proved the schools need the unification of the struggles for public education in resistance to the influence of the projects privatizing the formation of youth, and the abandonment of the field of public schools by the state and the brutal criminalization of social movements, especially the Movimento dos Sem-ground in the struggle for agrarian reform. The MST, as a social movement, the struggle for public education quality, as a duty of the state and the citizen's right. Teachers interviewed admit the pursuit of opportunities for young people in the city and the Movement claims the right to study in any place where they live, without needing to rural youth migrate to the city to have access to high-quality education and a better standard of living in the field.
