This dissertation intends to analyze how Brazil's Landless Rural Workers' Movement (in Portuguese, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Sem-Terra aka MST) organizes the discussion about the construction of Secondary Education in its settlements and camps, examining this education system s polices and structure. Secondary Education, specifically Specialized Rural Secondary Education, is the central subject in this dissertation as this life period is characterized by the capitalist dilemma concerning the dichotomous relation between work and education, when young people has to choose between pursuing higher education and entering the labour market, or even try to conciliate the other two options , risking their formal education. This choice is determined by material conditions experienced by the youth, and, in this aspect, it will be analyzed the production of goods as the basis of exploitation of man by man in capitalism. It is a purpose of this dissertation to examine Brazil s Landless Workers concrete-ideological fight in the theory-practical dialectic relation and how the movement faces the concrete demands for work and education. At this point, it will be examined the system of polices and regulations of MST s specialized Secondary Education, identifying if these create the disruption of the dichotomous relation between those processes. Analyzing MST s interpretation of education as an educative principle, it is intended to identify the Movement s tendencies in building an alternative popular project to the capitalist society. This dissertation also analyzes the historical relation between man and work, pointing material production of life in the capitalist society out and its consequences on the social individual. It is also examined Latin American conjectural history, in a general analysis of the Latin conflicts concerning land demarcation and the search for education, as an expression of the absence of the Brazilian State in this capitalist scenario, added to its dependence to central countries. The reorganization of social organizations and left-wing movements in Brazil in this conjuncture is another question discussed in this dissertation, as well as MST s contribution for the creation and discussion of another meaning for Brazilian educational field.
