This research aims to problematize the teacher formation from the perspective of invention and discuss the spacetime of the reading room territory as a possible device for a teachers inventive formation. The research took place among the experiences of five teachers with the reading rooms of the Municipal Department of Education of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro. It is a cross discussion of the collective notions and the difference in the training of readers, the training of teachers and the struggle for the right to have books, reading and libraries as a public policy. Its main intercessors, as well as the teachers of SME-RJ, are the authors Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze and Rosimeri de Oliveira Dias. The experience leads the dissertation into the existence of four principals of a reading room as it is enunciated as a heterotopic space: literary reading, meetings, training and invention. To these principles is added a fifth principle that aligned them: art. Together they make up the fight to assert and resist in defense of the existence of reading rooms in the public school system.
