O choro que se aprende no colégio: a formação de chorões na Escola Portátil de Música do Rio de Janeiro

The aim of this study was analyze the formation of choro musicians in the Escola Portátil de Música (EPM) of Rio de Janeiro. In this project of musical formation, which brings together students interested in choro, we can see how the musicians share certain tastes and preferences and how they undergo certain rules on how to play. There are rules in the formation of the pandeirista of choro that distinguish him of the pandeiristas of samba, for example. In Escola Portátil the rules are formed, what strengthens the group formed and increase distance from other groups that don t have the same training. The use of the skin tambourine is one of the rules that increase the strengthening of the group. These rules, which are passed by a group of teachers, directly or indirectly, to their students are captured and incorporated to the daily of the School, strengthening the group identity. The result is the formation of a group of musicians, unreceptive to other types of formulations. Moreover new configurations of choro arise from the spread of music that is translated in the School nationally and internationally. In short this work arises from the attempt to evaluate the universe of rules that appears in theEscola Portátil de Música ofRio de Janeiro, taking into account the statement of identity from the difference.
