Resumo: The main objective of this thesis is to present the relevance of the Flash fiction (micro story or micro narrative) for the learning and teaching of the Portuguese language. The students troubles in the face of the reading and writing skills are real. Consequently, it is the educator s duty to create attractive pedagogical approaches. In 2011, I have developed a pilot project for the reading of very short stories, tales and the rewriting of these tales into short tales, with the intention of estimulating middleschoolers of the 9th grade to read and rewrite Triste Fim de Policarpo Quaresma [Policarpo Quaresma s Unfortunate End ], by Lima Barreto. From this project, the desire to research more about such short tales in books as much as in the internet at an academic level has emerged. For that, it is necessary to contemplate the postmodern momentum, in which a new fashion of rewriting that converses with diverse languages is inserted. The micro tale is found in that context, hence the importance of also dealing with the novel rewriting. In Hispanic American and Hispanic countries, extremely brief narratives are constant since the middle of the 20th century. In the Brazilian scene, this type of micro narrative gains power towards the end of the century, with the technological advance of information and communication. Starting from the 21st century, there has been an increasing interest by the Brazilian writers and readers for the micro story both on digital and printed media, becoming a new literary genre. Concise, yet with prosaic freedom, it enchants the reader and invites him to be a coauthor, more than just telling a story, the very short tale suggests diverse stories, providing a pleasant game as it allows variate possibilities for each one to expand the alternatives of development in their own fashion using his previous knowledge and inventiveness. On the other hand, it defies the writer to tell a story in only a few words, the essencial the smaller amount of words and the bigger amount of meanings accessing all of his power of synthesis. As it adapts to the necessity of keeping up with the technological speed of the modern world, it is a way of stimulating the students to write micro stories that can easily be published on the social networks, as well as reading. An extremely concise narrative does not mean a lack of content and easy writing. Therefore it is capable of stimulating the reflection, the creativeness and attracting, also fomenting longer texts, as it has happened with the presented project

An extremely concise narrative does not mean a lack of content and easy writing. Therefore it is capable of stimulating the reflection, the creativeness and attracting, also fomenting longer texts, as it has happened with the presented projectO objetivo geral desta tese é mostrar a relevância do microconto (micronarrativa ou micro-história) para o ensino-aprendizagem de língua portuguesa.
