Cidades inteligentes e Decrescimento na sociedade de consumo: debate sobre a felicidade na vida urbana

In this work, were analyzed proposals for transformations in urban centers that intend to redesign the relationship that the individual has with his environment in the cities. Starting from the identity of present-day society as a globalized consumer society, which favors the acquisition of goods in the promise of achieving stages of happiness, fostered by the technological innovations of the second half of the twentieth century, we perceived the misrepresentation of the attitude before property in the urban environment, based purely on capitalistic interest, to the detriment of the social function of property. However, it has been verified that the use of new technologies, especially those of information and communication, has the potential to reestablish good socializing among citizens and with the environment, through smart city projects, also redefining the role of citizens in this regard. In addition, it was also considered the degrowth as a model to be followed by the economy, politics and society as a whole, in order to mitigate the consumerist impulse and promote mechanisms that promote social welfare. Finally, in view of the reality observed, the participation of local governments and the population, by restructuring democratic forms, in the search for decentralized decision-making that lead to happiness in the city was evaluated as a form of effectiveness of the initiatives presented.
