This work has as its object ‘’the perception from the social educators on sexual health and its interfaces with the informal care developed with the teenagers in institutional sheltering’’. Objective: To trace the sociodemographic characterization of the social educators that work in institutional sheltering for teenagers; to know the perceptions from the social educators from reception units dedicated to sexual health; describe the relation between the care of the professionals and their sexual health and discuss the influence of the perception of the professionals regarding the sexual health about the informal care developed with the teenagers in institutional sheltering. Method: Study on the qualitative, descriptive and investigative approach. Study carried out with social educators that work accompanied by the teenagers in institutional sheltering in three public units in the city of Rio de Janeiro (SMASDH/RJ). Data collected from January until June (2022). The analysis technique used in the study was the Content Analysis and the comprehension of data was based on the Sexual Script Theory by Gagnon and Simon. Three analytic categories emerged during the analysis, they were: a) Social educators perspectives surround their sexual health; b) Social educators relations of care with their sexual health; c) Interfaces between the social educators perspectives and the informal care developed with the teenagers in institutional sheltering. Research approved by the Ethical and Research Committee under the number CAAE: 53731621.4.0000.5282. Results: The social educators’ range of age is between 25 and 64 years old; high school and/or college education complete; the majority selfdeclared married, christians, black and mixed race; submitted between 12 and 72 months of work experience in the housing units; are trained in a variety of subjects, except in sexual health; average of one and a half minimum wage received. The professionals state that they have information about sexual health and the ways to get this information are: the internet, social media, schools, college and the church; the nurses are the professionals who support and guide the most on the subject. The sexual health matter, for them, is related to the perception of themselves, empowerment and the idea of romantic love followed by the concept of only one partner for affection relations. It’s pointed out that stable relations and exclusive partners as one of the ways of protection from STI. The educators’ sexual health care is given by visits to the gynecologist, mammography, breast ultrasound, collection of preventive exams, and frequency, and they are assisted and guided by nurses at public health units. The participants notice the teenager’s careless and sudden behavior and alert about the risks of unplanned pregnancy and STI. The dialogues always included conversations around the sex matter. The social educators build and develop the informal care, establishing conversations and considering their own life experience. Conclusion: The professionals take care of themselves considering their information acquired based on life experience. They don’t seem to have enough qualification on the matter of sexual health, which is highlighted if considering the care towards the teenagers in sheltering scenario. The reflection surrounding the permanent education is essential and supports the selfcare and management of the sexual health among the teenagers housed.
