Resumo: This dissertation takes as its basic foundation the aesthetic research around the body, from the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), german philosopher who implemented a scathing critique of the paradigms of classical metaphysics, undermining it in their principles in order to review them and overcome them through a revaluation of all values. Sustained by a pessimistic view regarding the tradition of philosophy and the underpinnings of modern culture, the nietzschean critique occasioned examine the history of culture, particularly the history of the appearance of the human body that culture has taken as absolute truth, that is, the history of certain aesthetic values that the body has assimilated, digested and products devoted to what he is capable of doing, ie fake appearance of reality with his artistic power, the values that with the help of Will introduce art beauty ideals that shaped (and still configure) the human character. From these ideals of beauty, this paper examines two historical appearances of the human body that are opposite and at the same time, complementary, and were discriminated by Nietzsche as romantic and classic body, appearances which are expressions of what Nietzsche sees as foundation of nature and life: the Will to power.

Sustentada numa visão pessimista em relação à tradição da filosofia e aos sustentáculos da cultura moderna, a crítica nietzschiana ensejava examinar a história da cultura, sobretudo a história da aparência do corpo humano que a cultura tomou como verdade absoluta; isto é, a história de determinados valores estéticos que o corpo assimilou, digeriu e devotou como produtos daquilo que ele é capaz de fazer, isto é, falsificar aparências de realidade com sua potência artística; valores que instauram, com a ajuda da Vontade de arte, ideais de beleza que configuraram (e ainda configuram) o caráter humano.
