This dissertation s research object is the Colaboratório project, whose aim was to reactivate the graphics workshop at Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial - Esdi through ex- perimentation and the development of shared management of space, resources and knowledge related to the means and methods of graphic production. Throughout my experience as an Esdi Graduate researcher, I used the notions of correspondence (Ingold, 2013) as an inspira- tion to develop my research methodology by engaging in an investigative process on how this experimentation took place and how relevant it is to the school and to the field of design. This monograph describes aspects of the Colaboratório since its establishment in early 2016 until the end of this research in 2019. They encompass its origin and the participants motivation to be part of such a project, its organization and which tools are used in the shared management of the graphics workshop, the production of graphic artifacts and how they are created and how the communication and exchange of knowledge among its participants happens. Through this investigation it is possible to understand the project in question as a collaboration plat- form that fosters an environment to develop and learn about collaboration itself and also alternative ways of accessing knowledge about graphic production, diverging from those we are used to find within a university. These considerations are presented by analyzing how the experiences observed in the Colaboratório converse with three main themes addressed in this document, namely: laboratory, collaboration and education. In conclusion, it becomes clear that such a project collaborates with the school by reactivating a workshop space that was underused, but mainly by presenting different ways of keeping it active, as well as investigat- ing ways for students and non students to build more autonomous paths for their training and dissemination of their work. It is not possible to predict what will be the future ramifications of the Colaboratório, but we can renew the belief invested in its conception that the power to build something together is a viable path for the democratization of the means and methods of graphic production.
