Modernity is characterized by a period in which profound revolutions have occurred over short intervals of time. In it, the analogical world has gradually been replaced by the digital and the material world has come to divide space with virtual reality. Initially represented by the Promethean Illusion, modernity was taken over by the Faustian impulse which today translates into the desire to recreate the human condition. The techno-prophets of Artificial Intelligence announce that the marvels of post-humanity will be with us shortly and are busy creating spiritual machines which, they believe, will free man from his organic condition. Knowing that society is organized around the technical and scientific mindset and that innovations significantly alter the way most human beings relate to time, space and life, this study discusses the model of technological development, considering that it is no longer an exclusively technical subject, but also one of political interest. Moreover, for the purpose of creating problems for those things which give meaning to technique, a criticism is made of the existing model, in which it (technique), subordinated to instrumental reason, works as an instrument of alienation and discussion made of the conditions needed for its democratization. The study begins examining two phenomena considered as determinants in defining the current scenario: cognitive capitalism and reification, understood to be constructions monopolized by the techno-capitalist mindset. Next, an analysis is made of the notions of technique , technological and technical reason , and the impact of technological development on medical activity is discussed. Medicine represents an activity with great social value for human well-being, although, in the last decades, there has been a break in the bond of trust between doctors and patients, and an identity crisis among doctors who today have problems in preserving their autonomy, in light of the market of new technologies and management strategies. In this context, new questions have arisen to be asked and answered by different actors and areas of knowledge in society who wish to contribute with opinions and proposals which address the specific problems of our time. This study also suggests that notions such as Will , in the Arendtian sense, like the Careful look of Josep Esquiról and like the Craftsman skill of Richard Sennett, can help us to understand the requirements of an ethical reorganization, if we wish to build a dialogue with technical-scientific reason on behalf of human freedom.
