O cuidar de enfermeiras na Estratégia Saúde da Família diante da vulnerabilidade feminina para HIV e o contexto familiar

The research object in this study is the nurse s care practice in the Family Health Care Strategy (ESF) facing the women s vulnerability to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, considering the family context. Discussing the vulnerability to the HIV, still poses as a social challenge, mainly considering it from the gender relationships in our society, as concerns the social and sexual role of men and women in their families. This research has two objectives: to describe the perception on the HIV in the family context to the ESF nurse; to understand the ESF nurse s perception on women s vulnerability to HIV infection in the family context and to analyze the ESF nurse s care practice about women s vulnerability. This is an exploratory research with qualitative approach, whose subjects were eleven nurses selected who worked at ESF in 2012, in the Programmatic Area 2.2 from the City of Rio de Janeiro. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews. The content analisys technique was based on Bardin. Three categories have arisen: a) Nurses perceptions in relation to HIV and the family context; b) Nurses perceptions in relation to women s vulnerability to HIV infection; c) Nurses care practice related to women s vulnerability to HIV infection considering the family context. We have observed that, from the nurses point of view, the HIV is the driver of a serious disease, which is hard to monitor, without a cure, of complex nature, in addition to being a condition that imposes limits as far as survival is concerned. Nurses have little regard for gender and social context issues on the condition of women s vulnerability, and blame them for their contamination.HIV prevention is largely carried out in health education activities developed by ESF nurses; however, such issue is not approached taking specifically each of the women s family and social context into account. Personal values still interfer in the nurses actions, and the HIV is seen as a condition with both social and cultural stigmas. Taking the ESF both as a governmental action aimed at the subject s autonomy, the change of paradigms in relation to the individuals health and an important ally to minimize the public health problems, such as vulnerability to the HIV, it is necessary to have nurses more sensitive and trained (permanent education) in social (gender) issues that are specific of the female population, so their actions may minimize the vulnerability to HIV infection in that population.
