Nutrindo a Vitalidade: questões contemporâneas sobre a racionalidade médica chinesa e seu desenvolvimento histórico cultural

ln the Jast four decades Chinese Medicine settled stable roots on western countries. During lhe acculturation process it seems that one current of its traditions named Traditional Chinese Medicine (ZHÔNG GUÓ YT, cp !ir) attained a hegemonic position in these countries and also in China. This current was conceived as a project for reconstructing Chinesa Medicine in People's Republic of China (1949 - ). Looking for a synthesis between the Classical Chinesa Medicine (GÜ DÀI ZHôNG YT i1:, ft tb ) and science, Traditíonal Chinesa Medicine has excluded or modified for political, ideological or paradigmatic reasons important notions of Classical Medicine such as SHÉN tiÍI, LÍNG and MING , and emphasized its aspects that are more related to biomedical paradigm, centered on lhe notion of curing diseases. Our objective in this work is to apprehend and analyze the conceptions and values that structures the therapeutic model of Classical Chinese Medicine, granting special attention to lhe aspects that compose the health promotion part of lhe model (YANG SHÊNG tt}, and re­ integrating the above mentioned excluded or modified conceptions. Assuming that during its formative period in HÀN íi dynasty (206 B.C. - 220 A.D.) Classical Chinese Medicine was a subject completely ínterrelated to Daoism, it was essential to analyze the maín conceptions inside the context of lhe Daoist cosmologícal model that constituted the foundation to medical knowledge development, constituting a research theme that is absent in the hegemonic research agenda of contemporary Chinese Medicine.
