This research addresses the issue of transsexuality in order to think about the reasons that have led to a significant increase in the practice of sex-change surgery which, initially, were sought by individuals, mostly psychotic. Such phenomenon indicates that the sexual bipartition between man and woman is not enough to account for the subjectivity of the subject. This research, then, raises a hypothesis regarding the occurrence of the transsexual phenomenon in women, that is, individuals born female from a biological point of view with the XX genotype , but with a male gender identity. In order to shed light on this issue, the Freudian theory about female sexuality serves as the starting point, in which the masculinity complex is distinguished by Freud as one of the three possible courses for the girl in relation to Penisneid, being considered here as one of the main directions in the investigation of transsexuality in women. On the way to differentiate what is a man or a woman, we utilize the Formulae of Sexuation, theorized by Lacan, in which the author establishes the sexual partition in the modalities of enjoyment. Lacan concludes that it is a matter of choice, the subject is forced to pick, positioning oneself on one side or the other. Nevertheless, there is something that the speaking subject, who possesses a body that has been designated by Language, can never escape from, which is the malaise for having a body, since it will always raise issues. Can the subject who changes its sex appease such malaise by trying to get rid of the previous one? Can one stop being man and become woman, and vice versa? This research is built, also, in search of those answers. But there is something that does not go unnoticed in that, which is the fact that the subject that undergoes sex reassignment surgery will always be called a transsexual. How can psychoanalysis address such phenomenon by taking into account the singularity of each subject?
