Resumo: | The binomial text/grammar is addressed in this work in order to provide opportunities for the debate around the categories of grammar, since they are necessary for the configuration of processes of textuality and linguistic uses. One of these grammatical categories, within the scope of the compound sentence – the correlated clauses – receives focus here precisely because it does not appear in the list of clause articulation processes of the Brazilian Grammatical Nomenclature (OITICICA, 1962, p. 20). However, this clause category is not treated here by a mere descriptive perspective, which is known for putting the linguistics unit aside from a deep project of analysis and from their respective occurrences in textual genres in Portuguese. In opposition, the studies realated to the clause building (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014, p. 428-555) demonstrate that the categories of paratactic and hypotactic clauses can be used for ambitious purposes, such as: i) pointing out that the text’s organization and, consequently, paratactic and hypotactic processes make use from textuality, what can be called linguistic choices. ii) Recognizing that, within the scope of textual architecture, the speaker and the writer, among the various possible options in language structure, resort to the structure that has the greatest textual impact. In the case of syntactic correlation, it is possible, through its occurrence, to map its use in the inaugural speech genre of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, which enable this research to highlight some topics for discussion, namely: the potential structure of the inaugural speech genre (HASAN, 1989, 52-109) allows us to assume that there is a choice, on the part of the person who writes/utters, for using complex processes in the correlational organization of sentences; the inaugural speech genre, analyzed through the context of the situation, brings in its argumentative core, a common rhetorical device in ceremonies and formal events. |

Submitted by Helio CEH/B (hagoncalves137@yahoo.com.br) on 2023-05-12T20:30:00Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese - Felipe de Andrade Constancio - 2023 - Completo (2).pdf: 1519710 bytes, checksum: 8cad98bc04a36fe5a02e840a09082118 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-05-12T20:30:00Z (GMT).
