Caminhando por entre práticas escolares cotidianas: currículo e emancipação nas salas de aulas

This project presents the procedures of a research carried out during the routine of some first and second grade classes at Pedro II Primary school. On telling stories that happened in this period, I go through very well-known routes, and yet these routes are always full of news : the practices of teachers, students, parents and other important subjects of the school s daily lives. Involved in these practices and in what the subjects tell about them, I try to create understanding webs of what goes on in the classroom. I start from the viewpoint that school life happens in its everyday routines, and that diversified knowledge is being produced by the subjects all the time, always in an articulate way, like a network. Therefore, to get to know that network better we have to submerge in it. The singular ways in which classrooms operate can be quite complex, because they carry a multiplicity and a fluidity that make their understanding a big challenge. They require specific ways to research and to report, even though we know that it s impossible to grasp school life in its totality. In an articulate way. I try to highlight the knowledge and the practices of the people who participate in the networks created in and with the classes. With them, and with the help of school life theorists and other scholars, I try to elaborate ideas which formulate possibilities of understanding what goes on in the classroom. I think that way of knowing and narrating schools can help create more and more room for the emancipated educational project proposed by Santos (1996), a project that is already being carried out daily.
