The advent of industrial modernity rearranged the Brazilian urban space, while the democratization of the means of transport allowed for greater emigration mobility as a result of the demand for low-cost labor, thus forcing workers to occupy neighborhoods with little or no planning or infrastructure. Such spatial occupations have been expanding and consequently have brought serious problems for the lack of effective actions of the State. Combining unemployment, deproletarianization, high crime rate, deprivation of education, sport and quality culture, family structures anchored in patriarchal-based ideologies, social and gender inequalities are exacerbated, and contemporary man is called upon to deal with the changes brought about by paradigm shifts, such as the loss of identity references. Thus, to give way to the proposal of the dissertation, a reading on the identity representations of the marginality within the urban space taken by the violence is developed. Seeking to reflect on the particularities that involve these issues in the fictional accounts O Matador de Patrícia Melo (1995) and O Invasor de Marçal de Aquino (2001) , has as its object of investigation the representations of marginal identities in the contemporaneity of São Paulo, Brazil, based on the following theoretical apparatus: Identidade e Diferença (2000), A Identidade Cultural na Pós Modernidade (2006) by Stuart Hall, Medo Líquido (2006), Identidade entrevista com Benedetto Vecchi (2005), Confiança e Medo na Cidade (2009) e Globalização: as consequências humanas (1999) by Zygmunt Bauman, As Estruturas Narrativas (2008) by Tzvetan Todorov, Literatura Brasileira do Contemporâneo (2012) by Regina Dalcastagnè, Os Condenados da Cidade (2001) by Löic Wacquant, O Cosmopolitismo do Pobre (2004) by Silviano Santiago and Heróis e vilões no romance brasileiro (1979) by Gilberto Freyre.
