Resumo: | The objective of this work is to analyze the extension and the political-religious meaning of the libertine discourses in the Luso-Brazilian world at the end of the XVIII century. In that context the term libertine had a pejoratively connotation, being used to qualify certain discourses and practices that promoted – or simply were able to promote – ruptures in relation to the dogmas, disciplines or authority of the Catholic Church, the only one considered valid. Their spokesmen were associated with the lack of faith and respect for sacred things and, as such, persecuted by the organs responsible for the censorship system, the Inquisition and the General Intendancy of Police. However, the persecution gave these speeches a homogenizing layer by qualifying them, indistinctly, as libertines and associating them with irreligion. Actually, behind that epithet, were distinct messages with diverse implications.Few studied by historians, the libertine discourses enunciated in Portuguese lands conduct to a scenario of political and doctrinal effervescence, permeated by reconfigurations on the power’s networks and changes in the field of ideas, even theological ones. In this way, the topic of libertinism is nothing more than a gateway to larger and deeper discussions that have consumed that reality. Religious discussions, but also political, and which help to better understand the specificities of the debates that marked the political and cultural Luso-Brazilian context of the end of the eighteenth century. |

Religious discussions, but also political, and which help to better understand the specificities of the debates that marked the political and cultural Luso-Brazilian context of the end of the eighteenth century.O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a extensão e o significado político-religioso dos discursos libertinos proferidos no mundo luso-brasileiro no final do século XVIII. No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese - Rossana Agostinho Nunes - 2017 - Completa.pdf: 2499491 bytes, checksum: eac9d02bb30637de67b21d124ff25e40 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-05-27T19:19:55Z (GMT). |
