LIBRAS e português no letramento de surdos e ouvintes: a experiência do Sarau Bilíngue

The present study investigates participants positioning and agency in a Bilingual Soiree. The Soiree is a didactic / pedagogical proposal, developed by the Bilingual Education Course offered by the National Institute for the Education of the Deaf INES and aims to integrate deaf and hearing participants, in a playful manner, providing literacy practices that involve translations and adaptations of texts from Portuguese to the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS). The objective is to provide to the deaf access to Brazilian literature and music, breaking barriers and prejudices by the mediation of the arts. From an interdisciplinary and ethnographic perspective, the study dialogues with Sociology, the Social Sciences, Speech Therapy, Education and Deaf Studies, locating itself in the area of Applied Linguistics. To do it, I departed from a group interview and analyzed it qualitative and interpretively. The units of analysis were positioning (DAVID and HARRÉ, 1999), agency (AHEARN, 2001) and identity constructions (HALL, 2006; CASTELLS, 1999) triggered by lexical cues. The analysis shows positionings, agency and identity constructions that have emerged during the interview and how they contribute to the construction of literacy (GEE 1990; KLEIMAN, 2005) by the participants of the Bilingual Soiree
