In this study was analyzed a shi'a islamic religious celebration, important to the field of geographic science. This cultural and religious performance presents demographic expresiveness and still little it is divulged in the Brazilian geographic academic. The inquiry looked for to understand as Sacred manifests in his religious territory and justified the necessity of a new interpretation on the concept considering the particularitity of the research object and entering in the subjectivity through the deriving symbolism of the Imaginalis Land. The geosymbol showed in its representation as foundation and streamer of an ideological apparatus, earn in this research, relevance. The objective of this thesis is concentrated in considering a new boarding on the concept of religious territory and has as objective specific to present, to develop and to analyze the result of this new approach, the matrix territory. From the conceptual deepening in this tesis and of the research of field carried through the etnogeographic method, some important questions are investigated having as epistemological orientation in Cultural Geography and, specifically, the Geography of the Religion. Of this form, collected the audiovisual and photographic material had served of substratum for one better theoretical basement in the bibliographical research. Through this new territorial construction unfoldings of great social impact are observed, as the constructions of new identities and the maintenance of a deriving Arab community of a great consolidated migratory mass in the city of São Paulo since the end of century XIX. The observed partial conclusions until then, in them induce to the continuity of the research and the unequivocal assurance of the necessary useful plasticity to sciences human beings in general, and specifically, to Cultural Geography, since the possibilities of reinterpret the geographic concepts the light of the religious phenomena are infinite.
