Resumo: The present study aims to analyze religiosity and its representations as an element of confrontation of diagnosis, adherence to antiretroviral therapy and the experience of the syndrome. This is a qualitative study, based on the structural and procedural approaches of the Theory of Social Representations, developed in two stages. In the first, 166 clients from an outpatient specialized HIV service at a hospital in Rio de Janeiro participated. Data collection techniques were used to apply a sociodemographic data questionnaire and a free evocation collection instrument using the stimulus term "Religiosity". The data obtained from the evocations were analyzed by four-box charts techniques, with the support of the EVOC version 2005 software, and the similarity analysis by co-occurrence, while the sociodemographic variables were analyzed using SPSS software version 20. In the second stage, 32 clients from the outpatient clinic participated, and the data were collected through semi-structured interviews on the themes aids and religiosity and analyzed by the lexical analysis through Iramuteq software. The structure of representation presents the cognems have-faith, God and believe as possible central nucleus, while the analysis of similarity emphasizes that the elements having faith, believing and love are, respectively, those who have the greatest number of connections with other words, which confirms a greater possibility of centrality for the first two words. From the lexical analysis, five classes emerged, that is, between normal and abnormal: living with the syndrome and its social, family, religious and health context; the continuity of life and the process of living with the syndrome: the evolution of technologies, confronting death and the context of religiosity and spirituality; religion and religion in the context of PLWHA: practices, beliefs and influences; the experiences of Prejudice and Solidarity with PLWHA in the context of their religions; and the HIV / AIDS diagnosis process: impact, challenges and advances. In a cross-sectional analysis, one observes its contextualization through the stages of coexistence with HIV, as well as the existence of religiosity in these circumstances. It is also observed the complexity of the relationship between religiosity and AIDS throughout history, evidenced today as important for the struggle for life in the issues underlying HIV / AIDS. From the set of data, it was found that the social representation of religiosity encompasses two dimensions: A conceptual that refers to the psychosociology of knowledge and a consequential one that refers to what religion and religion provide the subjects in coping with the syndrome. The conceptual focuses on the relationship with the Divine, while the consequential is related to the psychological, affective and social support offered by religion. It is concluded that religiosity is considered an important factor for better coexistence with HIV, being one of the foundations for coping with the syndrome and, even, its naturalization in the subjects' daily lives.

Submitted by Boris Flegr (boris@uerj.br) on 2021-01-06T14:35:56Z No. of bitstreams: 1 ARQUIVO FINAL_KAREN PAULA SOUZA.pdf: 1510544 bytes, checksum: 89ef3c0ea9cf65547696a4ce813fef12 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-06T14:35:56Z (GMT).
