População carcerária e perspectivas de acesso ao ensino superior

This research proposes the analysis of access to higher education by inmates of a prison unit in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. To compose the universe of analysis was carried out in the first time, the presentation of the structure of public policy of the Brazilian federal higher education, as well as the organization of the prison system and the group of laws relating to criminal enforcement, regarding the provision of educational chances. The theoretical retreat of thesis bolsters, so in three areas: the reflections on the contemporary university proposed by Boaventura Santos (2002, 2003), the concepts of cultural capital and bureaucratic field, P. Bourdieu (2007, 2010) finally, the criminal state definition of Loïc Wacquant (2007, 2011). Sociological interpretations on the challenges of the Brazilian university, proposed by Florestan Fernandes (1975, 1989), as well as the progressive deregulation of the labor market put, Chico de Oliveira (2003), also substantiate the thesis. The theoretical explanation was given in order to highlight the line and the gaps between the two public policy groups. Based on qualitative methodological proposal, the exploratory case study was performed based on data gathered through field research, which involved the mobilization of documents, such as terms of agreement between institutions and public agencies, and especially the speeches cleared through semi-structured interviews with the subjects involved in social and educational phenomenon. These interviews were conducted with 10 students, 2 and 3 educational managers judicial managers. As the universe of students, we try to identify four aspects that support the hypothesis of this study: the reinsertion of expectation in the working world, the reworking of self-esteem at the expense of the stigmata / labels, the chance to rebuild family ties of students (individuals deprivation of freedom) and the role of penalty remission decision to enter higher education
