Sentidos que norteiam a participação das torcedoras nos estádios de futebol

Among the various sports soccer is widely recognized as being the most popular in Brazil and is even referred to as the "sport of crowds". Soccer is a fertile ground for study and reflection, it's symbolism enabling links with other dimensions of social life. Among the actors involved we highlight the fans who are essential to sporting spectacle. It's the fans who experience and share the emotions, who perceive and internalize all the symbolic nature of the game, thus revealing it's true nature. For the fans there is a sacred place: the soccer stadiums, true sanctuaries where worship of the ball and the show of a sporting rite is mythologized. These stadiums live on in the imagination as "men's houses", however the number of women attending such temples grows daily. Using the snowball method seven women who attended soccer games were selected and enrolled in a semi structured interview. A qualitative approach was used in the analysis of the discourse in order to understand and analyze the production of imagery in these women. We have found the marks stadium (with unpredictable direction, space for socializing, a male and a democracy), people (with a sense of group), man (with a sense of prejudice and field), woman (with a sense of conquest of space, fan, partner and uncertainty) and time (with a sense of passion and racket). The interpretation of the data refers to the figure of Dionysus, the aspects of ecstasy, enthusiasm, pleasure, freedom, autonomy, by not being dominated and break taboos.
