Educação de transição? A passagem da escola estadual autoritária à democrática

This thesis addresses the processes of occupations of state schools in the city of Rio de Janeiro in 2016, conducted by their own students. The research is carried out from the study of a particular case, that of the Colégio Estadual Amaro Cavalcanti, one of the leading schools of the occupations movement. It is noteworthy that the author was also a teacher at this school institution, allowing a privileged position in the observation, identification and collection of relevant data, as well as in the interaction with the research subjects, in favor of understanding the social phenomenon in question. The study about the research methodology adopted constitutes a relevant point of the thesis in its epistemological dialogue with the scientific premises of the field of School Life and, therefore, in the challenge of creating a method adjusted to the characteristics and needs of the researched reality. The thesis highlights the centrality of student protagonism in the democratization of the Brazilian school by shedding light on the premises, values and methods adopted by the occupying students. In the theoretical perspective it is based especially on the concepts of Ecology of Knowledge by Boaventura Sousa Santos and Crowd by Antônio Negri.
