Suplementação aguda do trans-resveratrol melhora a função endotelial em pacientes hipertensos

Endothelial dysfunction is an early marker of the development of atherosclerotic and can contribute to cardiovascular events. Resveratrol is known to improve endothelial function in animals, but human studies are limited. We aimed to evaluate acute effect of trans-resveratrol supplementation on endothelial function in hypertensive patients. Randomized, cross-over, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, with 24 hypertensive, both genders, aged between 45 and 65 years-old. Received either a single dose of trans-resveratrol (300 mg) or placebo with one-week washout period. Blood pressure (BP) measurements, central hemodynamic parameters such as augmentation index (Aix) and aortic systolic blood pressure (SBP) by tonometry and endothelial function by flow-mediated dilatation (FMD) of the brachial artery were performed before and 1.5 hour after the intervention. Trans-resveratrol increased brachial FMD (4.3±0.5 vs 6.1±0.8%, p=0.026) compared to placebo (4.1±0.9 vs 4.3± 0.6%, p=0.114). There was no statistical difference between baseline and final values of peripheral BP (placebo 139±2/87±2 vs 141±3/88±2 mmHg; trans-resveratrol 142±2/87±2 vs 145±3/88±3 mmHg, p> 0.05). There was no changes on central hemodynamics parameters Aix (placebo 34±3 vs 36±3%; trans-resveratrol 37±2 vs 37±2%, p>0.05) and aortic SBP (placebo 131±3 vs 132±3 mmHg; trans-resveratrol 131±2 vs 133±2 mmHg, p>0.05). Only trans-resveratrol presented correlation between final FMD and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (r=0.49; p=0.024). In conclusion, the acute effect of trans-resveratrol improves endothelial function in hypertensive patients with impairment endothelial function.
