Resumo: Brazil has experienced growth of digital native news media in the second decade of the 21st century, a moment of economic pressure and crisis characterized by a decline in publicity revenues, which are now channeled to platforms like Google and Facebook. These organizations, born in the post-web world, represent alternatives to the traditional set up of the journalism industry in the country, marked by the creation of large conglomerates and market concentration. One of the digital natives born in this period was Nexo, a newspaper founded in São Paulo, 2015, with the proposition of offering an explanatory type of journalism, becoming a reference in the market known for their use of multimedia tools and achievement of many international awards linked to design and technology. This research brings quantitative and qualitative data regarding the Nexo case, as well as subsidies for other approaches of digital native news media. The objective is to understand Nexo’s characteristics of production and funding, considered typical of digital native news media and, simultaneously, analyze what sets this Brazilian vehicle apart from other digital vehicles based on studies on the matter until now. To try to understand the “resilience models” of these new Brazilian media players, indicating not only the arrangements which enable their survival, but also, the dilemmas faced during their organization.

Submitted by Bianca CEH/A (bianca.silveira@uerj.br) on 2021-09-28T00:14:17Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertação - Marlen Barbosa Couto - 2020 - Completa.pdf: 1245439 bytes, checksum: 1cc6e5b6ca0d0ff0b72223eb16ee424a (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-09-28T00:14:17Z (GMT). description Brazil has experienced growth of digital native news media in the second decade of the 21st century, a moment of economic pressure and crisis characterized by a decline in publicity revenues, which are now channeled to platforms like Google and Facebook.
