This study deals with knowledge management in a municipal public agency of the Minas Gerais, focusing on knowledge management practices that are evidenced in the specialized literature and in organizations that manage knowledge. It aims to evaluate the tools and practices perceived by the employees, and their managers filled in the undersecretaries belonging to the Health Department of the city of Juiz de Fora - MG. This study is descriptive with a qualitative approach. For the data collection, a questionnaire answered by the servers was used, as well as, the managers individually and anonymously. The results pointed out that the practices of knowledge management in this municipal body is still superficial and the servers are not yet familiar with the terms used. It is noted that knowledge management practices are used by the servers, however, the terminology is not known to some. Therefore, it is necessary to raise awareness on the part of the Entity, since the tools are present in the routine of the Institution, but the employees use them without clear definition of what such practices are. It is believed that this research can stimulate the potentialization of knowledge management tools as an instrument that contributes to the increase of effectiveness and efficiency in the Municipal Public Administration, object of this study.
