This research deals with the insertion of artists from the Folklore Festival of Parintins (island city located in the state of Amazonas, North of Brazil) in the allegorical making of Rio samba schools, seeking to contextualize the role of allegories in these cultural expressions, which, especially from of the 1990s, have established an instigating artistic dialogue. Both popular manifestations (samba schools and bois-bumbás in Parintins) have in common the use of grandiose allegories that tell part of the story narrated during the performances. The work, through cultural studies theoretical references, points out intersections, artistic processes and visual correspondences from the use of materials and technologies present in allegories exhibited in both popular Brazilian cultural manifestations. It investigates how this interaction takes place in design techniques, creative process and transcultural aspects between samba schools and bumbás in Parintins, through two case studies (monitoring the construction of allegories), carried out in the samba school Unidos de Vila Isabel and in the allegories shed of the boi-bumbá Caprichoso. It analyzes changes in samba schools and bois-bumbás caused by multidirectional inter-influences, circulation of artistic references and intertwining of languages that occur through adaptations, negotiations and tensions, with allegories as vectors of change
