A Geometria Sona e suas possibilidades de aplicação no âmbito da educação básica

The present work seeks to explore the content of the sona from their educational perspective in the school environment at the level of basic education. Practiced by the Tchokwe, people who lived on the African continent in the Mozambique and Angola regions, the sona were drawings made in sand by older members of the tribe, to teach essential stories in the formation of the younger members. During the colonization, European imperialism decimated people and imposed their culture, leaving today remnants of what was in the past. The colonization caused the culture of the peoples subjugated by the colonizers to be placed in a level of resistance below the culture of the colonized in the dominated countries, a fact that remains until the present day. The sona are presented in this work as a playful and alternative way of presenting concepts, which are necessary in the formation of the student of basic education in brazilian schools. Through them within ethnomathematics, rich mathematical content can be found, which allows not only teaching, but also the cultural appreciation of other peoples in the past seen as submissive.
