This dissertation is the result of the analysis of the narratives of students who completed Youth and Adult Education (EJA) between the years 2017 and 2019 of an Integrated Public Education Center (CIEP) located near the favela of Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro , which serves young people from the community, but not exclusively from it. Based on the reports, some issues that permeate their school experiences were discussed. Among them are school and extracurricular aspects that cross and make up the lives and possibilities built by young people in their trajectories and experiences before reaching EJA, as well as during and after this period. From their narratives, and also considering their memories, it was possible to identify what can and should be reflected about who comes to this teaching modality and how the stories, experiences and speeches of these people contribute to the understanding of the possible paths to be thought and consequently followed in schools with young people who return to it. For this purpose, a narrative interview with a biographical approach was used. The analysis of the narratives made it possible to produce understandings about the school experience of EJA students and to perceive several aspects and the complexity of the situations that surround the lives of these young people from the working classes who return to school.
