The objective of this dissertation is to investigate the production of meanings of the reduction of the criminal majority in the journalistic coverage of the newspaper O Globo. We use as methodology the analysis of narratives, in the mold of the triple mimesis proposed by Paul Ricoeur (1994). We focused our analysis on the "Jaime Gold" case in may/june 2015 and the "trawlers" in the Southern Zone of Rio de Janeiro in september/october of the same year. We analyze the narrative construction of journalism that contributes to the formation of consensus and legitimization of the reduction of the penal age. The study starts from the hypothesis that the cyclical process of journalistic narratives generates a permanent sensation of fear and insecurity that stigmatizes the young black minor and poor as "bandit" and "main responsible" for the cases of violence committed in Rio de Janeiro . Thus, the analyzes developed here allow us to conclude that there is a construction of journalistic narratives that contribute greatly to the stigmatizing process, inserting the young "minor" in the cycle of violence that occurs in our society.
