The present thesis analyzes Galician cavalary novel Trojan Chronicle, a medieval version of the legends of Troy, according to two main notions: the concept of Love and an Aesthetics of Light. From the elements - observed in the description of the characters, in the discourses and in the narrative structure of the text -, the recognition of the conscience in the Middle Ages occurs and its simultaneous creation and apprehension through the discourse. The research is based on the perception that the pathos of love and an aesthetic of light, present in the manuscript of the fourteenth century, create a channel in the Iberian Medieval for the resurgence of a new construction of the human spirit. A manifestation of the understanding man has about himself, revealed in the Trojan Chronicle, has already occurred among the greeks in Homer's Iliad. We rely on the work of the german hellenist Bruno Snell as a starting point for this research and for concepts of Light aesthetics and the concept of Love, on the studies of Umberto Eco, Aby Warburg, Plotinus, St. Augustine, among other theorists
