Resumo: This article investigated the constitution of the Landless identity in one of the mystics performed by the Landless Workers Movement (MST) - the mystics can be characterized as a kind of theatrical ritual that the Landless perform daily in the their encampments and settlements in order to strengthen the struggle for land and social transformation in Brazil. Specifically, I analyzed the mystical violence in the field - conducted in a Training Course at the National School Florestan Fernandes (ENFF) - trying to understand how the linguistic-discursive elements are related to the semiotic components in the identity construction of the MST Landless. For that, I used a Speech-Based Discourse Analysis approach, Fairclough (trad, 2001, 2003), Chouliaraki & Fairclough (1999), Magellan (2004, 2005) combined with the proposed Visual Design Grammar developed by Kress and van Leeuwen (1996). I realized that the multimodal discourse of the MST mystique is composed of discursive elements (lexical choices of the Landless) and imaginary (multimodal texts) that interrelate dialectically in an internalization / articulation relation in the social practice of mysticism, and that through this same discourse the said social movement builds a style of being Landless in a relationship conflicting with the hegemonic identity of the Landless people inculcated in the majority of Brazilians through the media that stand against agrarian reform in Brazil.

Edições UERN2018-12-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/RCOL/article/view/155COLINEARES; v. 5 n. 2 (2018): Revista Colineares; 33-492357-8203reponame:Revista Colinearesinstname:Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (UERN)instacron:UERNporhttps://periodicos.apps.uern.br/index.php/RCOL/article/view/155/114Copyright (c) 2018 Marco Antonio Lima do Bonfimhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessBonfim, Marco Antonio Lima do 2023-07-31T16:17:56Zoai:ojs2.periodicos.apps.uern.br:article/155Revistahttp://periodicos.uern.br/index.php/colinearesPUBhttp://periodicos.uern.br/index.php/colineares/oai||rev.colineares@uern.br2357-82032357-8203opendoar:2024-05-17T13:37:36.837169Revista Colineares - Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (UERN)false
