Here's our starting point: the claim and be faithful to the French tradition in philosophy, Nietzsche becomes, therefore, a direct heir of the author of the Essays, Montaigne. To defend this reading proposal we evaluate, at first, the design of French tradition in philosophy. Then, in the light of excerpts of the works of the two thinkers, articulate dialogue from each characteristic point of this same tradition. So, for example, on the issue of clarity in philosophical writing, Montaigne despises the obscurantism and the appeal of the difficulty, while Nietzsche says be clear is a moral requirement of who knows to be deep. Also the refusal of the systems, the potential of ethical subjectivism, the existential pragmatism as a result of thought that claims the I and literary aspects of his works are strong points of convergence between the two philosophers. In short, our work aims to join intellectually Nietzsche to Montaigne.
