O Papel do intelectual em cenários de risco à democracia

This article intends to foster a reflection on the role of the intellectual in risk scenarios for democracy, both in the general context and in specific terms, that do not refer just to the current  economic and educational scene, starting from the understanding of key concepts to this discussion, which allows us to understand better what these scenarios really represent, their origin and developments within a context that goes beyond nationals spaces. By this way, we introduce with the discussion of the concepts of liberalism, conservatism and socialism, which most represents the three ideologies that have structured world political life since the mid-nineteenth century until current times, as analyzed by philosopher-sociologist Immanuel Wallerstein, who we use it here as a theoretical reference for the treatment of this issue,  follow-uping the trajectory of the concepts from throughout history. In order to enrich our reflection, we use other thinkers who deal with themes related to the question, such as Istiví n Mészaros, Edwar Said and Paulo Freire.
