Resumo: The most common differences between languages branch Tupi and Guarani branch relate to changing penultimate stress words in the Tupi Guarani oxítonas words in the languages and the correspondence between the phoneme /s/ Branch Tupi and the phoneme /h/ Branch Guarani. In this work, we deal with the second difference through a diachronic study of phonological process that gave generate currently Tupi languages that have the phoneme /s/ and Guarani languages that have, in addition to / h / expected, also /s/ "frozen "in certain terms, relating the (s) alleged (s) protofonema (s) with the unfolding found in Old Tupi and Guarani Old, firstly, and, secondly, in Nhandewa-Guarani, Guarani currently a variety spoken in São Paulo and northern Paraná.KEYWORDS: Phonology. Guarani. prophonemesAs diferenças mais frequentes entre línguas do ramo Tupi e do ramo Guarani dizem respeito à mudança das palavras paroxítonas nas línguas Tupi em palavras oxítonas nas línguas Guarani e à correspondência entre o fonema /s/ do ramo Tupi e o fonema /h/ do ramo Guarani. Neste trabalho, tratamos da segunda diferença por meio de um estudo diacrônico do processo fonológico que possibilitou gerar, atualmente, línguas Tupi que possuem o fonema /s/ e línguas Guarani que possuem, além do /h/ esperado, também /s/ “congelado” em certos termos, relacionando o(s) suposto(s) protofonema(s) com os desdobramentos encontrados no Tupi Antigo e no Guarani Antigo, por um lado, e, por outro, no Nhandewa-Guarani, uma variedade Guarani falada atualmente em São Paulo e norte do Paraná.PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Fonologia.
