Resumo: | Abstract: The local gastronomy has a tourist potential that can and should be explored. Brazil is a culturally rich country, both for its territorial extension and for its human diversity, which result in the most diverse cultures. For this article, the main guiding question was: Why was the immaterial cultural heritage related to typical foods in the city of Lavandeira/TO a not registered and remembered by the community as part of the local culture? Considering this aspect, it was proposed to identify and rescue some of the typical foods of the city of Lavandeira. For such a survey, a field study was carried out with a qualitative and descriptive focus, using a semi-structured interview as a data collection instrument. The research was based on the concepts of cultural heritage and the understanding of material and immaterial heritage, focusing on the specific immaterial heritage of typical foods and community practices. As a result, a survey showed the richness of the culture of the local community represented by the rescue of typical foods in the city of Lavandeira, indicating the possibility of exploring gastronomic tourism, as well as providing elements for the municipal and/or state registration of these immaterial heritage. O Brasil é um país rico do ponto de vista cultural, tanto pela extensão territorial, quanto pela diversidade humana, que resultam nas mais diversas culturas. Para o presente artigo, a principal questão norteadora foi: Por que o patrimônio cultural imaterial relacionado às comidas típicas da cidade de Lavandeira/TO não foi registrado e lembrado pela comunidade como parte da cultura local? Considerando tal aspecto, propôs-se identificar e resgatar algumas das comidas típicas da cidade de Lavandeira. Para tal levantamento, realizou-se um estudo de campo com enfoque qualitativo e descritivo, utilizando a entrevista semiestruturada como instrumento de coleta de dados. A pesquisa pautou-se nos conceitos de patrimônio cultural e na compreensão de patrimônio material e imaterial, focando no patrimônio imaterial específico das comidas típicas e nas práticas da comunidade. Como resultado, a pesquisa apontou a riqueza da cultura da comunidade local representada pelo resgate das comidas típicas da cidade de Lavandeira, indicando a possibilidade de exploração do turismo gastronômico, assim como fornecer elementos para o tombamento municipal e/ou estadual destes patrimônios imateriais.
