Cultural identity, multiculturalism and the portuguese textbook : brief considerations

Resumo: In this work, we briefly discuss two fundamental theories for Cultural Studies, to link them, finally, to the role of the Portuguese textbook in Brazilian schools: the issue of cultural identity in post-modernity, based on reflections by Stuart Hall (2011), and multiculturalism from the perspective of Vera Candau (2012). From these theoretical references, it is possible to concatenate a certain consonance between the researchers' ideas: the fragmentation of identities as a premise for social relations. That said, the presentation text of the Portuguese textbook Novas Palavras 1 is investigated, as well as the approach on the content of linguistic variations proposed by Emília Amaral, Mauro Ferreira, Ricardo Leite and Severino Antônio, from 2016, because, despite proposing a work that excels in valuing cultural diversities, there are elements that demonstrate a perspective that is unfavorable to this multiplicity, defending, even if tacitly, a homogenization with regard to cultural identity.

A partir desses referenciais teóricos, pode-se concatenar certa consonância entre as ideias dos pesquisadores: a fragmentação das identidades como premissa para as relações sociais.
