Resumo: The article presents part of the findings of a research on the doctoral training of professors from the University of Guayaquil, Ecuador who are pursuing their postgraduate studies in education at an Argentine university. The research was carried out within the framework of an academic stay of postdoctoral studies through a grant granted by the Ibero-American University Graduate Association (AUIP). From a biographical-narrative methodological approach, the study shows that the doctoral trajectories are not linear or defined exclusively by curricular issues. The narratives of the teachers show that the profession, the update and the biographical condition, link and affect the daily lives of the doctorate and deepen even more when it is done abroad. The work seeks to contribute to the academic debate about the complexity assumed by the doctoral training and how stressful it can be for those who undertake the adventure of traveling it

La investigación se desarrolló en el marco de una estancia académica de estudios posdoctorales mediante beca otorgada por la Asociación Universitaria Iberoamericana de Posgrado (AUIP). Desde un enfoque metodológico biográfico-narrativo, el estudio arroja que los trayectos doctorales no son lineales ni definidos exclusivamente por cuestiones curriculares. Las narrativas de los docentes muestran que la profesión, la actualización y la condición biográfica, vincular y afectiva atraviesan los cotidianos del doctorado y se profundiza aún más cuando éste se realiza en el extranjero.
