The present article was conceived through the experience provided by the supervised internship II that developed in Early Childhood Education, on the occasion, having as locus the Nursery of a CMEI in the city of Maceió in the state of Alagoas. This internship provided the experience with babies in the process of adaptation and socialization in the nursery, in the room and with the reference educator, as well as their insertion in society beyond the family scope. The aim of this article is to report on the possibility of how playing using the water element may be able to help young children in early childhood education, through their sensory perception and interaction with their peers, to appropriate the world that surrounds them, developing and improving the children's autonomy present in the games. The approached methodology was of a qualitative nature, with literary revision in order to promote critical comments, directed to the idea for which the theme is proposed, in addition to the systematic observation and reporting of the babies' behavior in the activities proposed in 5 Supervised Stage II. The theoretical basis was based on the authors CORSARO (2009); WALLON (2007) and VYGOTSKY (2008), as well as the Curricular Guidelines for Early Childhood Education in the Municipal Education Network of Maceió. This article intends to collaborate for the valorization of spaces in early childhood education that enhance children's autonomy in the perspective of building their own discoveries in the perception and appropriation of the world, emphasizing the basic importance of play as a pedagogical strategy for the significant development of young children in what their belonging to a social environment that requires decision-making and mutual collaboration from the subjects.
