This article aims to reflect on the Movement School without Party (ESP), analyzing its foundations and repercussions in school practice. It is a qualitative approach based on documental and bibliographic research. The theoretical basis of the study occurs in the light of authors such as Paulo Freire (1996), Gaudêncio Frigotto (2016), Moacir Gadotti (2016), Fernando Penna (2017) and others. As results of the research, we identified that the Movement School without Party is strongly influenced by conservative sectors of society, especially evangelicals that have gained expressiveness in Brazilian politics. It was also observed that the School without Party is in line with the neoliberal logic of education, in which school systems must offer only a minimal education for the working class. Among the repercussions of the movement in school practice, are the curtailing of the freedom of expression and criticality of the teacher, as well as the incentive to censure, denounce and criminalize teachers. We conclude, therefore, that the policing and criminalization of the teacher will lead to the plastering of the critical thinking of the student and, consequently, it will bring back a technical and uncritical teaching to the Brazilian public schools.
