Play has always been part of the world of children since the beginning of time, being a primary means of development and learning. This work presented a brief history of Early Childhood Education and the teaching-learning processes for the child, emphasizing the importance of playfulness and interaction for the child to build his concepts, expand his vocabulary, develop entirely in a pleasant way. The present work has as general objective to analyze the conceptions and practices about playfulness for teachers of Early Childhood Education, realizing its role for the development of the child in a municipal school in the city of Delmiro Gouveia. The methodology adopted to carry out this work was a field research with a qualitative approach, developed through the application of questionnaires with two teachers who work in Early Childhood Education in the aforementioned municipality and with theoretical contributions by authors such as: Oliveira (2002), Mendonça (2012), Aries (1986), BNCC (2017), LDB (1996), Kishimoto (2010), Lakatos and Marconi (2003), Kulmann (2015), among other authors who debate about the topic addressed. After analyzing the data, it was pointed out that playfulness, in addition to favoring the child's teaching and learning process, has contributed to socialization, rule learning and the construction of knowledge, constituting an important pedagogical tool for the integral child development process.
