This work addresses the view of the teaching profession. The general objective of this work is to analyze the debate around teacher professionalization in Brazil and as specific objectives to understand the main implications in the training of these agents and differentiate the profession of teacher professionalization. The theoretical framework used, brings to light authors such as Costa (1995), Melo (2007), Sá and Neto (2016), Sarti (2019), Dassoler and Lima (2012) and others. To understand the debate about the teaching profession, qualitative and documentary research was used, since the analysis of texts, articles and historical documents made it possible to understand the reality of teaching professionalization in Brazil. The readings of the texts reveal the precariousness of teacher training since its inception with the division of classes and how they were offered (in their beginnings) until the exact moment when it becomes mandatory. The discussions present in the text point out weaknesses in the scope of teacher training and serve as an alert for the current situation in the country's professional education.
