Youth and Adult Education (YAE) is a teaching modality whose target audience is those who, for some reason or reason, did not complete their studies at the age and period considered regular. Therefore, this research aimed to analyze the literature published in the format of scientific articles between 2012-2023 on factors related to school dropout in youth and adult education. The methodology consisted of an in-depth integrative review of these twenty-seven articles collected in the Portal Periódicos Capes, which were analyzed based on the elaboration of protocols with the main information about each article, identifying the main factors that influence the high rate of this phenomenon and after, the data were submitted to the content analysis procedure. As a result, the research enabled the construction of four categories that were created from the most relevant points, where we went through topics such as: The factors that influence Evasion in the YAE modality, citing the main causes based on the articles, the difficulties and challenges , a reflection on work as a determining factor for returning or dropping out of school; The permanence of students in YAE, understanding which factors motivate their permanence in school, and finally, it was approached about the subjects of YAE in which way gender inequality and pedagogical practices influence this scenario. Through the acquired results, we conclude that, to end this problem once and for all, it still requires a lot of study and policies that serve this public effectively, it is observed that the problem is not linked only to a single cause, but to a combination of factors that influence school dropout, called internal and external to school.
