ACCESS TO RENTAL HOUSING IN BRAZIL AND THE CITY OF VITÓRIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Resumo: Residential rent is the form of access to housing that has grown the most in Brazil and other countries in Latin America in the last two decades. However, a significant number of people struggle to rent a house and keep up with their payments. Different authors point out that the mechanisms of real state production are not clarified in most studies on the gap between housing prices and wages. The objective of this text is to analyze the growth of rented households and the difficulties of renting in Brazil and in Vitória in the period 2000-2022, considering the aforementioned logics of housing production and processes of spatial differentiation in the city. The methodology was a review of bibliography and case studies on the topic and the analysis of demographic data.
