One can use autogenous cartilage grafts or alloplastic implants for this purpose. However, the potential for permanent damage to the skin and soft tissues as well as complications such as infection and extrusion of the implant make autogenous tissue augmentation preferable to alloplastic implantation. Furthermore, there is scant literature information about long-term outcomes and complications related to these implants.
