Geographical Indications of Cruzeiro do Sul Cassava Flour: prospection of cassava diversity using molecular markers

Resumo: Knowing and conserving cassava varieties from the Vale do Juruá region that have the Geographical Identification (GI) of cassava flour and assembling a collection is necessary for the maintenance of the genetic resource. The objective was to prospect the genetic diversity of cassava that has the GI of Cruzeiro do Sul flour in order to establish a germplasm collection. Collections of 24 varieties were carried out. For DNA extraction, young leaves were collected. Ten microsatellite markers were used. The following parameters were used: observed and expected heterozygosity and number of alleles per locus. Genetic distances were used by the modified Rogers matrix for the elaboration of the dendrogram. 39 alleles were detected. Duplicates were observed between the varieties. It was concluded that there is a great diversity of cassava varieties cultivated in situ by rural farmers in the Vale do Juruá region, that holds the GI of cassava flour from Cruzeiro do Sul.

O objetivo deste artigo foi prospectar a diversidade genética de mandioca, que detém a IG da farinha de Cruzeiro do Sul visando à implantação de uma coleção de germoplasma. Foram realizadas coletas de 24 variedades. Para a extração de DNA, foram coletadas folhas jovens e utilizados dez marcadores microssatélites. Foram utilizados também os parâmetros: heterozigosidade observada, esperada e número de alelos por loco. As distâncias genéticas pela matriz de Rogers modificado foram utilizadas para a elaboração do dendrograma. Detectou-se 39 alelos e foram observadas duplicatas entre as variedades.
