Prospective Study of Resveratrol Patents in the Farmaceutical Industry

Resumo: Resveratrol is a substance extracted mainly from the grape skin, with effective action in the prevention of aging, acting as anti-oxidant and improving the lipid balance. Patent families research was conducted at the European international data bank using Orbit software in the international classifications A61K, A61P and A61Q. Four major groups were identified for the types of uses, with 63% for therapeutic purpose. It is an emerging technology with annual growth of appropriations with 70% of households under analysis or granted. The market is world-wide and L'Oréal stands out and develops the technology with NESTEC. The analysis of these groups has identified trends of continuous development in this technology, mainly of therapeutic and non-cosmetic patents, however, the largest players and the largest investors are still in the cosmetics sector.

Foram identificados quatro grandes grupos quanto aos tipos de usos, sendo 63% para finalidades terapêuticas focadas em uso cosmético, ou não. Trata-se de uma tecnologia emergente com crescimento anual de apropriações com 70% de famílias em análise ou concedidas. O mercado é mundial e se destaca a L´Oréal, que se associa com a NESTEC.
