Technological and Scientific Prospection of Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) Point-Of-Care Testing

Resumo: | Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is a biomarker used in the diagnosis and long-term evaluation of Diabetes mellitus. The development of HbA1c point-of-care testing allows simple analysis with immediate results, facilitating care. This study presents a technological and scientific prospection study based on the survey and analysis of patent documents and scientific paper of HbA1c point-of-care testing. The technological prospection revealed that China, United States and South Korea lead the technological production scenario and the North American company Polymer Technology Systems leads the deposits ranking. The patent survey shows that there is current technological interest in these point-of-care testing, justified by the increase in patent filings in recent years, peaking in 2019. The scientific prospection reveals that the United States leads the scientific production and points out that the market focus of these rapid tests are clinical laboratories, offices and specialized clinics, due to the speed and analytical simplicity. |

Os testes rápidos de dosagem de HbA1c permitem a realização de análises simples e com resultados imediatos, facilitando o atendimento. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo de prospecção baseado no levantamento e na análise de patentes e de artigos científicos sobre testes rápidos de HbA1c. A prospecção tecnológica revelou que China, Estados Unidos e Coreia do Sul lideram o cenário de produção tecnológica, e a empresa norte-americana Polymer Technology Systems lidera o ranking de depósitos. O levantamento de patentes mostrou que há interesse tecnológico atual por esses testes rápidos, justificado pelo aumento de depósitos nos últimos anos, atingindo o pico em 2019.
