Law n. 14.200/2021 as a Mechanism to Dynamize the Compulsory Licensing of Vaccine in Brazil

In 2019, we had the first news of the emergence of the epidemic form of COVID-19. An epidemic that took thousands of lives in Brazil. The development of vaccines to protect the population then becomes an emergency. Considering this quick need, in order to speed up the national production of vaccines, the Legislator then brings us Law n. 14.200/2021, which amends the Industrial Property Law – Law n. 9.279/1996, with the object of regulating the issue of compulsory licensing of patents or such requests in cases of declaration of national or international emergency, public interest or even recognition of public calamity at national level. The purpose of this article is to make a contribution about this normative device as a possible agent for boosting the compulsory licensing of vaccines in Brazil.
