Resumo: The creation of the Federal Institutes (FIs) in 2008 was a milestone in the field of public policy on professional education at all levels and modalities, also reflecting on local and regional development. Among the objectives of the FIs, is to carry out applied research, stimulating the development of technical and technological solutions to meet social demands. This exploratory research, of bibliographic and documentary nature, sought to analyze the trajectory of scientific and technological production within the scope of IFBA. The data were extracted: from Web of Science, Plataforma Stela Experta and DINOV/IFBA. The results show that scientific production is still much higher than technological production, and that even with an increase in these indicators, over time, the amount of technology transfer is still quite incipient or absent.

Entre os objetivos dos IFs, está o de realizar pesquisas aplicadas, estimulando o desenvolvimento de soluções técnicas e tecnológica para atender às demandas sociais. Esta pesquisa exploratória, de natureza bibliográfica e documental, buscou analisar a trajetória da produção científica e tecnológica no âmbito do IFBA. Os dados foram extraídos: da Web of Science, Plataforma Stela Experta e do DINOV/IFBA.
